Hi, My name is Alex Morse currently a Psychology Major at Elmira College. Taking photos for me is something that I enjoy and take great pride in, taking majestic pictures that not a lot of people would think to create. As you go through my work you can see that I express interest in light and dark figures that can be related to similar features and memories people have. Though I have many sky photos, I try to connect with simple environmental figures that we take for granted such as water, tree's and roads. Sometimes as I take a shot I find a connection with the ugly of the world that can be altered to show beauty. To connect myself with a photo that I'm about to take, I first ask myself who else would find this unique and can be attached to the photo like me. The second thing I look for in the photo is the possibility to create something out of nothing, mainly outdoor photos. As you can see many of my photo's are simple yet, speak a voice within the shot.
Artist like Jared Chambers, give me inspiration to take random, yet creative photos that can be loved all over social media, such as Instagram. The thing that Chambers really expresses to me in his photos is to step out of the box when taking a photo but still remain in the boundaries that can make a photo have velocity and volume. For example, in the photo below is one of many that Jared has taken within the photo he blocks out the surrounding texture and focuses on the rough area that this man is sitting on. However, though its simple, the rough patches of the rock brings out the perfect angle of the man that is sitting upon edge of the rocks. I love Jared Chambers photos and his simplicity that he expresses, telling viewers that we take in depth contrast for granted over.
